Re: Painting bottom on the trailer

A good spot to place the stands would be under the bulkhead, which divides the space under the cockpit and the cabin. It would be nice to hear other's opinions regarding this suggestion.

Re: Powder Coating Spars, Any Luck?

The largest powder coating oven I found is 30 feet. They charge $4/foot for coating and $4/foot for sandblast. I plan to coat the toe rail then two booms. Thanks for the mast painting info.!

Powder Coating Spars, Any Luck?

Has anyone attempted to powder coat the mast and boom? How did that hold up? Does anyone have any concerns with having the spars powder coated? Thanks!

Port Light Replacement

Has anyone replaced the existing port lights with larger ones? If so, what did you use? I imagine this modification might disqualify the boat from class racing :?:

Re: Daggerboard pulley

IMG_0657.JPG The top sheaves are stock off of #416 and #461. This pulley is the smallest in the 4 pulley configuration but undergoes the highest load, which cracks them (As shown). I swapped them out with a Ronstan RF1766. The one on the lower right is stock. The one on the lower left has been modi...

Oval Head Machine Screw Supplier

I need to replace various sizes of phillips head stainless steel Oval Head Machine Screws, as they are referred to in my Machinist's Handbook #23, but I cannot find a supplier. I've had no luck with McMaster-Carr or my local fastener supplier. And no, I don't want to use FHCS instead. Any suggestion...

Cleaning Orignal Non-Skid

I'm looking for some input on how to clean the original non-skid on the deck. The pointy, little pyramid style that has a VVVVV pattern, which seems impossible to get down into the bottom of the V. I'm thinking a muratic acid mixture combined with an orbital scrubber may do some damage. Anyone sugge...

Re: Gelcoat Crazing

According to the do it yourself repair book, "This Old Boat" The crazing occurs when the gel-coat is applied too thick. It's an aesthetic issue, not structural.

Balsa Core location in Hull

Good morning. I understand from other posts the transom is balsa cored but I was hoping to find out if this is the case on the sides of the hull. I have an 18" void in the hull above the waterline that needs repaired between midship and the transom. I plan to do all the work from the inside the...
