Re: 2010 Annapolis NOODs ---> April 30 - May 2

What? huh? What do you mean wake up? I'm awake. With Boz in 'command' of the website I'm not online as much as I used to be. I was just logging in to start talking up A-town and lo and behold, I was beat to the punch. Excellent! The Naptown NOOD will again be the S2 7.9 East Coast Championship. Spec...

Re: PHRF Ratings Appeal

I love/hate these discussions. Hold on a moment while I get my soapbox.... Got it. Here's what I would do. Ask you handicapper if a Tartan 34C is allowed to raise his board. If he isn't then they are treating you the same as everyone else. I'd be happy to use an ODR rating if that is the case. If he...

Ditto.

Tim (or others) can you post a pic of your flossing setup? I'm about 900 mi from mine. I don't think the flossing rigs have been discussed before.

Re: Inboard to outboard

The boat is faster, especially in lighter conditions. The weight ( and also the placement ) is not the issue. The inboard weighs 200lbs less than the OB. We've raced against OBs with 300lbs in their engine compartment (agree that is not ideal). The issue is the drag of the prop, shaft and strut. Whe...

Re: Displacement / weight question

There are 3 7.9s at the Washington Sailing Marina even after Horizon has left the madness. There's more water on the upper Potomac than you might think. Having a board is an advantage, but there is a S2 10.3 that is out racing every Tuesday. Check out http://www.discsailing.org Home of : Coup de Ven...

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.......................................................................................... YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No disrespect meant to anyone but having most of the board up on a tight reach, ESPECIALLY a long one, sounds like a great way to get passed!!!!!!!!!!...

Re: Asymmetrical Spinnaker

Every have one of those TIGHT reaches where it's hard to get the spin to fly? Try keeping the Genoa/jib up and raise the board all the way up. You'll need to head higher to account for the slip but its fast.

Re: 2009 Annapolis NOOD dates

I just called Sailing World. We do have a start for the NOOD. YEA!!

If any latecomers are interested, they would probably allow late entries.

On my way north from Charleston, I'll be getting to Annapolis Wed or Thurs.

Re: Backstay kicker

HB,

Don't know of anyone who tried the kicker with the SS backstay. We made the change in class rules to allow the kicker, cascading purchase, and the synthetic backstay at the same time. At least you would need to change the 'pinch' system to the cascade.
