These are your guys. Tell them that the Boston's sent you. First class work and they know the boats as they built all the factory ones.

Re: Spin sailing/ No downhaul

I have noticed that some 7.9's are not using the downhaul. Just using the twings. When I tried it, the pole still wanted to ride up. Would be nice to have one less line to pull. Need advice. As Spike always says the downhaul need to be the tightest line on the boat. Sailing without it allows the po...

Re: launching from a hoist

I would just wait till high tide and borrow a buddy's pick up truck. We have used Chevy S-10's and Jeep Cherokee's in the past but a good ol F150 will take it right out!

Cheers

Re: Runaway

If you any info you can't find here or when ready to sail and need some sails give us a ring or an email. we are in Sarnia and may know a little about the boat :) Congrats BTW! The 7.9 is a great boat and a great value. We have 3 here that race a lot and a couple more we get out once in a while. Che...

Re: Rig Tune

just sail with the class headstay length. that is a good length. We have played with the longer lengths in the past and all it does is create weather helm. You should have been a few turns harder on the rig and that would have helped. Can't help you with being late for the start :) The wiggle in the...

Do you mean Vectran? if so that is really good for halyards, real low stretch.

Re: Sail Crossover Charts

You have the cross over about right for the 1-3. After that some people will put a reef in the main, but for the most part if you have to reef you are probably not going to be racing anyway. If you are not going to sail OD much a lot of people have bought 135%'ish #2's and that is a PHRF weapon as y...

Why? I would just get a good set of 5/16" and call it good as your only set.

It may be durable and cheap but it will be like using bungy cord, not a good choice for racing halyards.
