Re: Leaking from Keel cover
I also had this issue once. I put a generous amount of 5200 around the hole, then install the plate. Also around the head of the screw that seat in the plate. I do have the backer plate on both sides inside. No leaks.

Re: Mast raising and lowering
I have done it several times with instructions from fleet 7 on this website. It's a bit of work getting everything setup, but it works. https://s279.org/Tips%20and%20Tricks/mastraising.html I have also thought about a system I saw at Annapolis sailboat show for a different sailboat. An extension pol...

Re: Rudder Gudgeon Bushings
Stef is right here. I have plenty of bushings in stock!!! $30 set of two bushings, free shipping for class members. Made from virgin Delrin. Dimensions are in the area you posted. Pintles are 5/8". From what I understand, hull #1thru #42 had 1/2" pintles. You can email me at: s.seeuwen@gma...

Re: Outboard Motor Suggestions in 2020
I purchased the exact same unit, probably 2010-2011. I am happy with it, but have had issue with spark plugs going bad. I change the plug every year now. I have never had the flooding problem as in previous post. You need to be careful which side you lay it down on when off the boat. I have not had ...

Re: racing criteria
Paupack Sailing Club has no maximum, maybe we should set one. We have raced in 25+ before, but those days are far and few. How about on the other end, minimum? Two years ago after calling 2 races that were underway because boats could not move due to no wind, we set 4 kt's as a min. some think it sh...

Re: Turnbuckle hole size
I have two sizes. I believe it's 1/8" for top, 3/32" for bottom. Not sure why that is. Got them from Rigging Only when I replaced all the rigging a few years ago.

Autohelm Installed
Thinking on adding an autohelm. I have an old ST1000 not working properly. Could just buy new if I cannot repair. What are the best install points? I'm guessing I will have to drill into the topside somewhere unless someone has figured another way.

Re: Is the core 1/2" thick?
I have two cleats on the foredeck, also two near the aft corners. There is NO core at those locations on my boat. You can see light coming through on a sunny day!

Re: Board up?
I have had my boat in the same slip since 2007. I never leave it with board up. Boat traffic will make the boat rock even more plus the board will bang around in the box. Good coat of VC17m.

Re: Replacement hatch
I replaced mine with Bomar 900. Had to shim a little all around to get it centered. Use plenty of sealant.

Re: Mast Step Repair from Inside
I did it from inside. Very restrictive, but would do the same way. I had soft area in front of mast. Closer exam showed small block on cabin top in front of mast was leaking into the core. Also had small leak from tabernacle area. Did it in winter. Removed fiberglass skin, and balsa, then put a smal...

Re: Chainplate Covers
I think the cover does nothing more than hold the sealant. If I would make them, probably laser cut a bunch. This would give you a nice square corner on the inside slot. We had hull 264 (I think) that had the same setup, cover welded to chain plate. I thought it was kind of strange. You would need t...

Re: Chainplate Covers
The covers, or the chainplates themselves? In either case, if you have the old one take to a local machine shop. Tell them you want the material to be 304 stainless steel.

Re: Daggerboard Lift
I do it with a forklift and extended blade. Three stage, and just makes it over the lifeline. Buddy of mine had his boat in a barn and tied a block and tackle to a beam above the boat. The problem is it's only up and down, unless you pull the boat out of the way. With my forklift I just pull away fr...
