Re: St. Pete's NOODs

Anybody going to the NOOD's should bring different clothes for different days. Yesterday was 82, last night rain , this morning 45. Wind out of the north at 25. The weather this year has been the extremes. Wet. Forecast for next weekend looks good, but they haven't been getting it right past 3 days ...

Re: Roller furling on 7.9

Good information here. Barry, seems like we are in the same boat, so to speak. My wife has always done foredeck, since we started sailing together, some 40+ years ago. Last year she had a full hip replacement. Didn't race all last year. This spring she took a nasty fall in her first race back. It to...

Re: Battle with the J24's

Back in the day when we were racing seriously, with a good crew, we were always hanging with the best J24. Now we mainly do the Rum Races, with my wife and myself, small jib and still hanging with them. I have found that sailing with the small jib, two people, PHRF gives us a 12 sec mile credit, wor...

Windows

I have put it off long enough. Now I have a cracked window.
I have read how to do it on this board. helped a friend do one.
Need to know, how thick is the Lexan?
Won't do this for a while but want to get everything ready.
I want to do them all as they really look bad.

Stef,
Agree !!
Having worked on boats since 1966, including 100 mph sk boats, for Champ boat company. I should know a little about a well made boat.
The quality of the 7.9 is right up there with the best of them.

Lewmar 30 winch.

I need a new drum for one of my winches.
Tooth broken of inside.
Anyone have an old winch laying around that you will sell. I know that some people have upgraded.
Trying to find where I can buy a new drum. Not much luck. :(

Re: Bottom Cracks

Norm, While you can get at the front of the trunk via the V Berth, the back is difficult form inside without destroying the cabin floor pan. And as Stef said, these areas are already solid glass. This is one repair I would do from the outside, but I am sure Dave will have some good comments about h...

Re: Rambling repair post...

I have an alum. float on trailer with carpeted bunks.
Best thing I ever bought. Float the boat on, hook up the eye and drive away.
Launched the boat today after touching up the bottom.
Going sailing tomorrow.
Going to be 82 and sunny :)

Re: Where are all the boats

Chris,
Don't believe that list is up to date.
There used to be 6 in Melbourne. Now mine is the only one.
One owner moved to Ohio and 4 others moved to larger cursing boats.
Racing on the east coast of Florida is really dead.

Re: Bottom job.

The boat yard said they would pull the board, with the boat in the water. I have a few small dings that I want to repair.
I also never leave the board down when docked. I used to have a mooring, in Coconut Grove, and the boat sailed around a lot, with the board up. :D

Bottom job.

Purrfect is in the water in Florida where we sail year round. This means that every winter, when it gets under 70 degrees, I put it on the trailer to touch up the bottom. I do this on the trailer by dropping the two back bunks and removing them, I have two jack stands, and painting under the bunks. ...

Re: What is your preferred tiller design?

I agree with Dave on the upward curved tiller is good.
17 years ago, I had one made, curves up and is 6 in. shorter.
Love it.
